A holistic in-school program developed to empower
children and youth to live peaceful lives.
 |
An overwhelming majority of children
report that they have encountered a bully who made
their life miserable at one time or another during
their school career. Some children also live with
violence at home. CASA has developed a school-approved
Peacemaker Program to assist children in pre-school
and middle school to build a solid foundation of
values and encourage the development of lifelong
peacemaking skills. By working in partnership with
schools, CASA can help teachers and staff better
understand the dynamics of power and control, especially
when there is violence in the home, and reduce
the terror that a bully can exert over fellow classmates. |
Upon school and/or teacher request, CASA staff members
will lead students through a series of age-appropriate
lessons to do the following:
- Identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
- Actively listen and deliver thoughtful “I” messages
- Turn conflict into peaceful resolution
- Foster peaceful relationships
- Develop a personal safety plan
