Campaign to Build On-Site Kennel

CASA began a fundraising campaign to build an on-site kennel at its domestic violence center, so that people will no longer have to choose between their pets' safety and their own. The CASA kennel is expected to open in Summer 2017.

The threat of animal abuse is a disturbingly common method abusers use to prevent their victims from leaving their dangerous home. In fact, 71% of pet-owning women entering women’s shelters reported that their batterer had injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims.

More facts showing the connection between domestic violence and animal abuse can be found through this link. To support the CASA kennel, please visit this page: www.casa-stpete.org/kennel.
