Responsible for cooking meals, meal prep, food inventory and ordering, and kitchen cleanliness.  Responsible for providing empowerment-based advocacy services.

Illustrative Duties:

  • Prepare meals to ensure that breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen to include washing counters, refrigerators, pots, pans, dishes, stoves, floors, taking out the trash etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all CASA food areas to include refrigerators, freezers, coolers, kitchens, pantries, etc.
  • Inventory food items and rotate stock of canned goods, fresh produce, meats, and all other food items weekly.
  • Ensure all CASA locations have an adequate stock of food at each program location and provide consistent delivery of food items to each location.
  • Oversee food truck deliveries and take an inventory of incoming items.
  • Maintain a record of daily activities, production, and USDA meal counts.
  • Provide necessary documentation for USDA.
  • Provide assistance with ordering necessary items for the food program.
  • Ensure proper temperature checks are completed bi-weekly.
  • Complete the ServSafe Training.
  • Assist in completing meal plans for the entire year.
  • Ensure that food is properly stocked for each location in the event of a natural disaster (hurricane, flood, etc).
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Ensure that all basic needs related to food service are available to survivors at shelter at all times in alignment with the program standards
  • Ensure kitchens are stocked with necessary food and basic needs items as it relates to the program standards.
  • Provide empowerment based advocacy workshops to encourage survivors to learn how to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their children.
  • Train and oversee volunteers that support the residential food program.
  • Perform statistical and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Document services in case files, spreadsheets, and database as requested by management.
  • Effectively respond to crisis situations in shelter per CASA policies.
  • Prepare rooms to receive new intakes by stocking with necessary supplies and ensuring rooms are in order and ready for the individual or family.
  • Perform tasks related to participant exits, including packing and storing of belongings.
  • Assist participants with completion of responsibilities involving community living.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all areas designated for use by participants.
  • Assist with the acceptance and distribution of donations and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory level of food, linens, personal care items, and general shelter supplies.
  • Monitor the maintenance of the facility, operating systems, and appliances.
  • Must be able to work within an empowerment-based service delivery system.
  • May provide back up to crisis hotline or other departments as needed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

General:

  • Participate in ongoing staff meetings.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to treat residents, volunteers, and co-workers in a respectful manner at all times.
  • Attend and participate in all required training.
  • Stay current with all personal training.
  • Assist with training and supervision of volunteers.
  • Agree to work a flexible schedule when required, which may include changing shifts to ensure 24-hour Shelter coverage, due to illness, absence, natural disaster, or vacation of other staff members.
  • Complete special projects and presentations as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Agree to drive agency vehicles as needed.
  • Ability to function independently and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Possess a valid Florida State Driver’s License to be verified annually.
  • Possess the ability to climb stairs and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Agree to participate in a background check upon employment.
