CASA TO COMPETE FOR $100,000 PRIZE IN ALLSTATE FOUNDATION PURPLE PURSE CHALLENGE
Help CASA win by becoming a team leader or donating online at www.casa-stpete.org/purple
Sept 23, 2016, St. Petersburg, FL – CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) was chosen to represent southern Pinellas County in a national grant competition, The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge. This is an online fundraising competition that gives CASA the opportunity to win weekly cash prizes, including a $100,000 grand prize. The competition runs from Sept 28 – Oct 25, to coincide with October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
CASA now needs Team Leaders to help spread the word. Team leaders are engaged individuals who announce the Challenge’s weekly competitions to friends via social media or email. The top team leader will win a very special prize. Please sign up at www.casa-stpete.org/purple as soon as possible! Donations may also be made online through that link starting Sept. 28.
This is the third time CASA has competed in the Purple Purse Challenge, which last year raised nearly $3.1 million for 161 domestic violence organizations throughout the United States. In 2015 CASA raised nearly $17,000 in small donations through the competition – and they’re hoping to build upon that success by topping that number in 2016.
Now in its sixth year, the Purple Purse Challenge provides an opportunity for organizations that support domestic violence survivors to increase their donor base and push for vital funds. One-hundred percent of proceeds go toward nonprofits that provide life-changing financial empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build safer lives for themselves and their families.
In order to count toward an organization’s total, donations must be received by Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. ET. Along with $115,000 in weekly bonus challenges, the organization that raises the most money will receive a $100,000 grant; second place will receive $50,000; third place will win $25,000; fourth place earns $20,000; and fifth place will get $15,000.
The Purple Purse Challenge is part of The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse program, which aims to help end domestic violence and financial abuse through financial empowerment. In its 12th year, Allstate Foundation Purple Purse has propelled more than 800,000 victims on the path to safety and security, and has invested more than $50 million to empower women to break free from abuse through life-changing financial education, job training and readiness and small business programs for survivors.
