Sweet Dreams: CASA’s “Good Night’s Sleep” Dessert Luncheon Set for May 13
Fundraising Event Featuring a Myriad of Desserts (and a Light Lunch Too)

March 10, 2016, St. Petersburg, FL-  Nearly 300 Tampa Bay area residents are expected to attend CASA’s 13th Annual “A Good Night’s Sleep” fundraising luncheon, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, May 13 at the Mirror Lake Lyceum. CASA is mixing things up this year, with a fun, light program, lots of desserts and a general good time.

“Our domestic violence center currently houses more people than at any other point in CASA’s history-- three times as many as this time last year,” said CASA’s Executive Director, Shandra Riffey. “We need your support now more than ever. At the Good Night’s Sleep you can help CASA while also having a fabulous time enjoying tasty treats!“

While CASA’s new 100-bed domestic violence center has been open for only 8 months, it is in full force, at full capacity and saving even more lives from dangerous abusers than before. Around 100 children and adults live at the shelter at any given time, receiving safe housing, support groups, career resources and assistance obtaining restraining orders.

Along with the increase in shelter services, costs have grown considerably. One cost that most people do not think about is the price of linens for all the beds. Each person living at the shelter is given their own sets of new sheets, blankets and towels. The “Good Night’s Sleep” Dessert Luncheon will raise funds to help pay for these linens, ensuring every resident has a warm, clean and safe place to call home as they work towards creating a life free from domestic violence.
