Tampa Bay Rays and CASA

The Tampa Bay Rays have installed these public service announcements in EVERY bathroom stall at Tropicana Field! Through this initiative, up to 2 million Rays fans will learn that our 24-hour hotline is ready to help their loved ones attain a life free from domestic violence!

Check out Bay News 9's news coverage of the campaign!

Why did the Rays put up a poster in every mens' and womens' bathroom stall? Because the problem knows no bounds. People of all genders, races, sexual orientations, income class and education face unacceptably high rates of domestic violence. In fact roughly 1 in 4 men and 1 in 3 women are survivors of domestic violence.

Mother's Day Cards

Flowers are nice, but the right card and a donation to a cause dear to her heart expresses much you love her.

This mother's day, have CASA mail your mom, sister, daughter or other special woman a beautiful mother's day card. With any donation of $25 through this link, CASA will personalize and mail her a card in your name. (Deadline: April 28 to guarantee delivery by Mother's Day!) It's easy, and really tells her how much you care!

Volunteer Appreciation Month

Dear CASA Volunteers, Volunteers are one of the most important resources community organizations can have. CASA's program participants are so dependent on meals you prepare and serve; children's reading programs, art classes, haircuts, yoga classes and other activities you provide; donation drives you hold; and so many other wonderful offerings that would not be possible without your continued generous support. On behalf of CASA, we offer a special “Thank You” to each and every one of you for volunteering your time and talent to CASA. Your giving has touched and enriched the lives of our participants, their children and our staff. Thank You! Appreciatively, Suzanne Horn Interim Executive Director, CASA

CASA's Dessert Competition Winner...

The competition was intense..ly tasty!

CASA's 2017 "A Good Night's Sleep" Dessert Luncheon and 40th Anniversary Celebration, held yesterday, received rave reviews. With the support of amazing speakers, generous event sponsors and caring attendees, CASA was able to raise over $70,000 in profit, all of which will be used to fund programs helping families escaping dangerous homes. Because of the money raised, those families will be able to sleep peacefully each night, knowing that tomorrow will be a better day.

Pictured, left to right: Lissette Campos, Eddie Pearson, Wendy Ryan, Marilyn Polson, Herb Polson and Kelly Conroy.

The nearly 300 people in attendance were clearly inspired by speakers Marilyn and Herbert Polson, who shared memories of their 40 years in support of CASA; Eddie Pearson, who told the story of how he turned family tragedy into a call to action; and longtime advocates Wendy Ryan, Main News Anchor of ABC Action News, and Lissette Campos, Director of Community Affairs for WFTS - ABC Action News.

Attendees were also in a sugar-filled bliss after eating featured desserts from GateauOChocolat, Island Flavors and Tings, Infused Tea Company, JB’s Sweet Addictions, Kilwins St. Pete, LocalShops1, Pipo’s, the Original Cuban Cafe, The Pie Factory and Urban Creamery. They all provdied mouth-watering treats, and the votes cast by the event's attendees proved each of them to have brought their "A" game.

In a close vote, the winner of the 2017 CASA Dessert Competition was.....

.... Urban Creamery!
