IN THIS ISSUE
My youngest daughter, who was in high school, was given a class assignment to write an essay about someone who had been an inspiration either directly or indirectly in her life. My daughter wrote about me! Unfortunately, over the years we lost the essay and I do not have her exact words. The title was "The Strong One!"

Last month we celebrated the 1-year anniversary of CASA's 100-bed domestic violence center! We could not have reached this milestone without the financial investments made by our community of generous supporters.

Professionals know regular contributions to investment accounts insure they will grow over time. Why should your investment in CASA be treated any differently?  CLICK TO READ MORE

Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in a CASA-run event, meeting or activity is asked to advise the agency at least 5 days before the event by contacting us at 727-895-4912 or TTY: 727-828-1269.
Many of CASA's survivors, transitioning from shelter to their new homes, have only a few of their own personal possessions to bring with them. It can be an overwhelming (and expensive!) task to purchase the most basic necessities for their home. Help them get started by making an "On the Move" starter pack!

BRINGING THE JOY TO CASA
It can be scary to think about leaving your home when your best alternative is a shelter. These organizations' investment of time and funds in CASA are helping make that decision a little easier. These groups bring joy, laughter, music and food to rejuvenate the soul and lighten the atmosphere at the center.

SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THESE AMAZING SUPPORTERS:

Iglesia Puerta de Salvacion & CASA's Back to School Bash
CASA teamed up with Iglesia Puerta de Salvacion and ten community organizations to give out school supplies to area children at our joint Back to School Bash. It was a fun-filled day that also served as a kickoff to our new Spanish-language support group.
Downtown Business Association's Sunrise Sale
CASA was the featured nonprofit for the Sunrise Sale! 40 Downtown Business Association members served as donation drop spots for items on the CASA wishlist. The Cathedral Church of St. Peter held a donation drive in their congregation and then "sold" the items at the sunrise sale. The money raised and items sold were donated to survivors of domestic violence receiving CASA's services.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays featured CASA in their Community Corner at Tropicana Field. We were able to meet crowds of people who learned more about domestic violence and the resources available to those affected by it.
Target
Volunteers from the Park Blvd / 34th St. North Target spent hours organizing and cleaning at our 100-bed domestic violence center.
Purple dot Yoga's "Cooking with CASA"
Purple dot Yoga held their monthly "Cooking with CASA," where they prepare dinner for the residents, featuring home cooked organic food & fresh flower centerpieces in a picnic-style setting.
Music is Medicine
This music group came to hold a drum circle for the children at our youth center, helping them express emotions through music and exploring new ways to use their bodies to make musical sounds. The children joined together to "reenact" a Florida thunderstorm using drum sounds!
Albanian Folk Dance
A folk-dance aficionado taught a group of participants traditional Albanian Folk Dancing at our center. Along with instruction, they explored Spanish and Line Dancing as well! This was such a hit that it will be held monthly.
