Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Barbara MacDonald
News Volunteer Spotlights

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I recently retired from Corning, and am an avid Clemson Tiger fan, cyclist and outdoor enthusiast.

Can you tell us about your first time volunteering with CASA and what you like most about volunteering?

I wanted to volunteer at CASA because I’ve always had a special spot in my heart for families of abuse. I was lucky enough to be raised in a strong, loving household and I realize that not every one is that fortunate. Volunteering helps me give back after years of not being able to. My career was one of getting on airplanes every week, so any steady volunteering opportunity was not possible. Now that I’m retired, I want to help others as much as I can.

Please share with me your favorite experience or memory volunteering with us here at CASA?

I am very new to CASA, and just started with the Hope for the Holidays campaign.  In the short time I’ve been involved, I see how dedicated the staff is to the cause. And it warmed my heart to see the donations that came in day after day during this difficult time. It really shows there is goodness in people’s hearts! I look forward to my future volunteer opportunities at CASA!
