CASA in the Community

CASA’s mission is to raise our voices against violence through advocacy, empowerment and social change. CASA’s vision is a community without domestic violence so that home is a safe place.

Speaking Engagements

CASA can come speak to your group about domestic violence, CASA’s resources and other related topics. Contact us at info@casa-stpete.org to request a member of CASA’s Speaker’s Bureau for your group meeting.

CASA staff train community members who have a desire to be advocates for victims and survivors of domestic violence.  CASA’s training for professionals include the following:

  • Addiction professionals

  • Hair Stylists
  • Human Resources professionals

Training includes an overview of the most recent domestic and sexual assault laws, information to help professionals recognize the warning signs related to domestic abuse, and discussions to encourage sensitivity to the needs of victims.

Community Education

CASA staff and volunteers provide education on domestic violence at events such as community and health fairs, neighborhood association meetings, civic associations and to religious congregations.

Peacemakers Program

Anti-Violence & Healthy Relationship Curriculum

CASA provides teachers and curriculum materials free to local schools. Students receive holistic peace education nurturing values of peace and justice using school-approved curriculum.  Parents are encouraged to take an active role in nurturing and supporting lessons learned in the classroom.

Primary Prevention

CASA is committed to providing youth with tools and resources they need to help end domestic violence. Through our prevention efforts, we are always looking for ways to reach out to youth and specifically encourage teen involvement. For more information on how you or a teenager you know can be involved, or for information for teens that think they might be in an abusive relationship.
